Mentoring of master's theses

Generally, at the chair could be written master´s theses on all aspects of information organization and information retrieval. A self-selected topic can help you to get access and supports the motivation to achieve a successful completion, although vague topics of interest can be focused by talking.Responsibility to attend the Research Training Group
Students who want to write their thesis at the chair have to take an active part at the research training group of information retrieval (Tuesday, 4 to 6 pm) at least one semester.The research training group will be go through fundamental aspects of scientific work such as research methods, research question or the literature review, combinded with the discussion of individual work. In exceptional cases, the training group can also be attended one semester before writing the final paper.
Mentoring
If you are interested in mentoring by the chair, you should make an appointment by e-mail to Vivien Petras, or come into the regular office hours. During the preparation of final papers, a regular flow of information by the state of the work is expected.PhD
If you aim for a PhD at the Institute of Library and Information Science at the chair of Information Retrieval, please send a cover letter with the following informations:- synopsis about the proposed research topic
