Learning Management systems (Part I)
Like all things in life, when designing a distance learning course there are constraints everywhere. Your visionary course is likely to encounter technical, financial and design constraints. This session will briefly look at the elements most courses include and then focus on a variety of case studies developed by commercial companies and universities. What works and what doesn't?

Online classrooms (Part II )
In my opinion, when developing a course there are two key things that need to happen. One is that the course is designed with the student in the center, the second is that the tutors teaching on the course need to have participated in at least one online course themselves. With this in mind we will look at tools available in online classrooms (such as Collaborate Ultra) and consider how face to face activities might be adapted for distance learning so that an online lecture might be turned into something more interactive.
