The Berlin School of Library and Information Science in the Faculty of Humanities at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin invites applications for a tenure-track Junior Professor position (W1 level) focusing on Information Management (Elsevier - HEADT Centre- Einstein Stiftung professorship). The appointment will start at the next possible date.
This professorship builds on the work of the Humboldt-Elsevier Advanced Data and Text (HEADT) Centre, and on the work of the Berlin School of Library and Information Science. Information Management combines the research integrity and data management topics with an overarching program of study to prepare Humboldt-Universität students to understand a diverse range of related issues such as publishing processes in a networked digital environment. The work of this professorship will directly benefit service‐oriented information infrastructures such as libraries and computing centers that are essential for digital curation.
The Berlin School of Library and Information Science (Institut für Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft) offers strengths in Information Behavior, Information Retrieval and Information Processing and Analytics. These areas address the interaction between humans and technology, as well as the transformation of scholarly communication due to digitization. The Berlin School is one of the very few computing and technology-oriented programs with actual gender equality among the professors.
We welcome qualified applications from scholars whose research addresses important and innovative areas of research especially in the fields of Information and Computer Science and the development of IT-based service strategies. Focussed research areas should be:
- Analyzing different forms of Research integrity
- Information technology and business models for the scientific publication process (including Research Life Cycle Management and digital Curation aspects)
- Information Infrastructure Management
- Research data Management
This Junior professorship is a six-year, fixed-term academic position involving both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be obliged to teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses (in German and English), to conduct research at the highest international level independently, and is expected to be able to take part in all the activities of the School, including examinations and administration and application for third party funded projects. Successful candidates should have research experience in one of the following areas: Research integrity, Information Infrastructures, Research Data Management or other related important and innovative areas of research. Tenure track may be an option for this position.
The qualifications for this position are: evidence of teaching excellence, High level communication skills, a strong commitment to the school's establishment at the university and the international research community.
Successful candidates have to fulfill the criteria for an appointment as junior professor according to the Gesetz über die Hochschulen im Land Berlin (Berliner Hochschulgesetz - BerlHG) §102a. The Junior professor will take active part in the academic administration.
