Research Software Discovery & Citation
Alexander Struck, Exzellenzcluster - Matters of Activity: Image Space Material
Stephan Druskat, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt (DLR) & Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Research software gains more recognition as a first-class research result. Some funders start to ask for Software Management Plans (SMP), open publication and long-term availability of such software created to solve research problems. Recognition is improved by proper software citation, utilizing existing citation standards. Although much software in academia is still written from scratch, the reproducibility and Open Science movement require reuse to some extent. Publishing, archiving and discovering existing software solutions are information behavior problems which are currently being investigated. Our session will present some overview and recent developments.
