Social business documents and documentary practices
Prof. Dr. Susan P. Williams, Universität Koblenz-Landau
Social business documents are a new class of digital business documents that include blog posts, wiki entries, social profiles, comments etc., each of which contains business-related information. They are collaboratively developed and over time a shared network of interactions and activities is built up around the core document content. This social/collaborative aspect adds complexity and makes social business documents more challenging to control and manage. In this presentation I will draw on theories of documentary practice and use examples and scenarios from industry case studies to examine the nature and structure of social business documents and issues for their long-term management. The implications of these findings for document theory and for information management practice will be discussed.
